User Management
The Solution Provider Platform (SPP) is designed to allow controlled access and functionality tailored to a specific need.
Introduction
The Solution Provider Platform (SPP) provides a sophisticated mechanism that empowers administrators and system managers to meticulously manage user access to various components and functionalities within a system. This level of control is achieved through the strategic interplay of roles and permissions, creating a robust foundation for ensuring data security, user accountability, and streamlined operations.
Roles within the SPP serve as predefined sets of permissions that encapsulate specific sets of actions and interactions that users are authorized to perform. By categorizing users into roles, the system can easily assign common sets of permissions to individuals with similar responsibilities. For instance, an “Administrator” role might encompass comprehensive permissions that include user management, configuration settings, and access to sensitive data, while a “Basic User” role might have more limited permissions focused on viewing and interacting with general content.
Roles
There is six distinct user roles defined with its own set of privileges and responsibilities.
- User, The standard user role is the foundation of the system. In order to maintain security and data integrity, the standard User has the right to log in and interact with the system and all Autodesk assets, but without the ability to make changes or exports.
- Sales, The Sales users have additional capabilities beyond the standard User, such as managing sales status of Autodesk opportunities and managing the entire flex quoting process, by requesting and finalizing a quote with Autodesk. A Sales user can assign ownership of specific end customer accounts, and view subscription transactions.
- Sales Manager, The Sales Managers additional capability compared to the Sales user, is the ability to export lists of all sorts.
- Order, The Order user has the same access rights as the Sales user. In addition, the Order user is responsible for the fulfillment of the subscription transaction process to create, track, and manage orders. In addition, the Order user can swap a multi-year contract term to an annual contract term.
- Finance, The Finance user has all the previously mentioned access rights, except what is related to the actual sales process itself. This means that the Finance user can not assign ownership of specific end customer accounts, or manage sales status of Autodesk opportunities.
- Admin, The Admin user has full access rights in the SPP Client View. The Admin user configures system settings, creates API keys to connect the SPP database to any external reports or existing internal company sales systems, creates user accounts and sets permissions across all roles. The Admin user(s) ensure the overall functionality and security of the system.
A user role has access to one or more permissions. The following permissions are granted for each role:
Permission | User | Sales | Sales Manager | Order | Finance | Admin |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
View Assets | X | X | X | X | X | X |
Opportunity Management | X | X | X | X | ||
Transaction Access | X | X | X | X | X | |

Permissions
Each role is linked to one or more permissions that they are given access to. The following list provides details about each permission within the system.
View Assets, Grants roles the capability to access and observe assets within a system. Assets can refer to a wide range of items, such as files, documents, images, resources, or any other valuable components stored in the system. This permission enables users to see information about assets without necessarily granting them the ability to edit, modify, or delete them
This permission is valuable for users who need to access and reference assets without the need to modify them. It enables users to gather information and make informed decisions based on the contents of the assets. Properly managing this permission is essential to maintain data security, privacy, and controlled access to valuable digital resources.
Opportunity Management, Grants roles the ability to modify the status of sales or business opportunities within a system. An opportunity status typically represents the stage or progress of a potential deal, project, or transaction. This permission allows users to update the status of these opportunities as they move through different phases of development, enabling accurate tracking and informed decision-making
Transaction Access, Provides roles with the ability to view and interact with transactional information within the system. This permission allows users to access records of various transactions, which can include financial transactions, order processing, data entries, and other activities that involve the exchange or recording of information.
Asset Management, Grants roles the capability to assign ownership or transfer ownership of assets within a system. Assets can include various digital or physical items such as files, documents, equipment, properties, or any other valuable resources. This permission empowers users to manage the ownership of these assets, ensuring proper accountability and facilitating effective asset tracking.
Quote & Finalize, Grants roles the authority to create, modify, and finalize quotes or proposals within a system. This permission enables users to generate offers, estimates, or bids for products, services, or projects, and take the necessary actions to finalize these quotes for potential clients or customers
Data Export, Grants users or roles the capability to extract and download data from a system or application. This permission allows authorized users to obtain data in various formats, enabling them to analyze, share, and utilize the information outside of the system.
Subscription Orders, grants users or roles the ability to manage and process subscription-related orders within a system. This permission enables authorized users to create, modify, and oversee orders for subscription-based products or services.
User Management, Grants users or roles the authority to control aspects of user accounts within a system. This permission typically includes the ability to perform tasks related to user accounts, such as creating, modifying, and deleting user profiles.
This permission is crucial for maintaining the security and organization of a system. It allows administrators or authorized users to oversee and control who has access to the system, what level of access they have, and how user accounts are managed over time. Properly managing this permission is essential to ensure data security, privacy, and efficient user administration.
